So its been a while since my last post, but here I am.
Not too much has been going on. As I mentioned in my last post I picked up my dress back in March. Its so horrible and fantastic that I have it in my house. I love having it and I look at it almost everyday. I hate that I have it and look at it everyday and want to wear it! But its so beautiful. I really cannot wait for my wedding day.
In other news....
Back in April I get a FB message from our DJ. She informed my that she will no longer being working our wedding. I asked her why, but she wouldn't tell me. So I'm assuming she got let go and is very angry with them. But I have yet to hear from the actual company. Which is really starting to piss me off. We still have to go and meet with them to talk about the music selection, and I know that when we do they are going to drop it on us. It sucks because this girl was the reason why we picked the company that we did. Yes, I realize that we won't be having to search for a new company (especially since there's pretty much no chance for us to find a new one at a decent price), but still... I guess right now, that's been the only bump in the road. And if that's all we hit then I should be happy.
May 12th was our "Negative 1 year anniversary" as Jay liked to call it. It was a very good day. We started off by going to Wonderland to see about doing our wedding pictures there and all the technicalities (and there's a rant that will be coming up shortly). After Wonderland we went to the Monte Carlo Hotel to look around and reserve rooms for all of our guest. Right now we have reserved 40, but we are still going to be looking at other hotels. Shortly after that we went to see The Lion King on stage. It was really good. And Jay really enjoyed it too.
So back to the Wonderland thing. The next day a woman from the Marketing department called me back. She told me that we can take the pictures no problem whatsoever without having to worry about permits or red tape. Sounds too good to be true....well of course there's a catch! Why wouldn't there be one? In order for us to do this, we have to pay the admission price of a regular ticket per person involved. REGULAR admission. In order to go to Wonderland for a day it costs almost $60 a person! (And that's 2011 prices). So we have 14 people in the wedding party, plus our ring barer and flower girl and our two photographers. And it gets even better. The woman I spoke to, said that they can include a guide to take us to different areas (behind the scenes) and things like that. Wanna know for how long? 2 hours. That's it. Granted, we wouldn't be staying any longer then that, but that's not the point. So freaking Wonderland wants $60 a person for 2 hours in the park. Now Jay and I have to revisit this plan and work out our options. Which sucks, I mean Wonderland has a lot of meaning to Jay and I, and its really important. Jay says to leave it with him, and he'd figure it out, but really what can he do? If this is their policy, we can't change it. Right?
Decisions, decisions. Anyway 348 days to go!

Picking Up My Wedding Dress Sunday!!!!!
Sunday I'm picking up my wedding dress!!!!!! So excited!
I found out last Thursday that it was going to be in the next day. I was all pumped to go pick it up the next day, but no one was available to go with me. And as much I wanted to go and get it right away, I wanted people to go with me. So finally on Sunday Leslie, Tanya, Mom and I are going to go and get it.
And another plus, Stephanie's and Mom's dresses are in. I'm really hoping that we all aren't swimming in them like Leslie's. I don't know why, but the lady who measured all of us, recorded sizes that were way off. I figured that with mine it was kind of normal because its a wedding dress, and people say that wedding dress sizes are crazy anyway. But my dress was measured 4 sizes bigger then what I normally wear.
I was first worried when Marla got her dress and she told me it was too big for her. Then when we pick up Leslie's, hers is too big as well. So now I'm stressing over it, and hoping at the same time that I don't have to worry. Yes, yes I'm rambling as usual. I'm just excited!!! I'll probably post again after Sunday.

Marriage Classes Complete!
Yay! Marriage classes are all done!!!!
But we just found out at the end of the night that we are going to be married by the Deacon. Apparently because we are an "Inter-faith" couple and not having a mass, the priests don't do the wedding. I dunno. So I'm not overly impressed with that. I guess in the end though what are you going to do? The nice thing was, at the end of the night both Jay and I left feeling really good. Like I got another sense of community and it made me feel like we were all together.
So we passed the class, got a certificate and now we have one more thing done. 432 more days to go!

Centre Pieces!!!
We might have just found our centre pieces. Today I met up with Tanya to go to the International Bridal Show. I was hoping to find this beautiful picture frame that Jay and I found a long time ago, but didn't buy at the time. Now we keep going to pretty much any wedding show looking for it. But that's another story.
Anyway, I went over to Tanya's today and she tells me that she has a little gift for me! She gave me a beautiful centre piece that is so unique. Well to me it is. So I sent a picture to Jay and he really likes it. And to make things even better, Tanya also got me price lists for flowers! Woohoo. Always good to have lots of information! Anyway here is a picture of it.
It won't be the same colours, but I really like it. So now we need to do some research!

Stress?
Well it had to come at one time or another. But I'm starting to feel the stress of the planning. Thankfully though its not super huge or anything like that. Just an annoyance more then anything. Its been kind of driving me nuts when people have been making my wedding day about them. Be sure not to sit me with this person, you'd better have this to eat....blah blah blah.
Since when did someones wedding day become about the guests that attend, and less about the bride and groom? I'm always one to be open to feedback and suggestion, but not when its given to make the suggestee (I know not a word) look good. Okay so I'm rambling a little. But hopefully you get what I mean.
Maybe I'm just grumpy today lol

Getting You Up to Speed
I've been thinking about creating a blog for a while now. Though really half the time I don't have much to say. Or for that matter, no one would really be interested in anything that I have to say. But ever since I've gotten engaged, I've wanted to track and document the entire experience. Again I don't know how many people are going to be reading this (if any), but its something that I am doing for myself. And anyone who wants to come along for the ride are more then welcome!
In May 2010, Jay proposed to me during the opening ceremonies of the bi-annual CanAm Softball tournament that we have been playing in since 2006. He came up with a pretty creative story too. Jay use to be a director for the tournament, to which he quick following the Canadian event in 2009. He told me that since he was an outgoing director, "T" and the rest of the directors wanted him to make an outgoing speech during the opening ceremonies. After telling me this, Jay then asked if I would go up with him, as he didn't want to be standing alone in front of all of those people. So of course, wanting to be a good girlfriend, I said I would and I went up with him. To see exactly what happened, watch the video that I have attached.
From the minute I said yes, and even before that, Jay and I have been planning. But before I go on with what we have gotten done so far, let me introduce you to our wedding party.

- Picked out and ordered my dress, veil and tiara.
- Booked our DJ.
- Bought my wedding ring.
- Hired a wedding coordinator.
- Booked with the tuxedo company.
- Booked with our cake company and picked out our table place cards and take home gifts.
All of this and its only January 23, 2011.
Thankfully both Jay and I like to be a head of the game. So many people have asked us why we are doing so many things so far a head. And we say, why not? We are getting amazing deals, and a limiting as much stress as possible. We both agree that we want to have everything booked as soon as possible, and just be paying bills every month. I understand that with a year and 4 months still to go a lot can happen and change (IE having weight change and not fitting into dresses), but what is the harm in doing things now? I personally don't think any. And besides its my wedding! So who cares lol.
Yesterday, majority of the bridesmaids came over and we had our make-up testing done. We all got a good idea of what we want. It was a lot of fun! Champagne was involved, a long with a lot of food! My only concerned with the make up, was that I went out that night, and I had all black stuff just underneath my eye. I'm pretty sure its from the non-waterproof mascara. But that's something I'll be talking to the girl who did our make up about later.
More too come!
